Glenn Porter
Dr Glenn Porter was born in Sydney (Australia) and grew up in a small rural town called Silverdale, about 1.5 hours west of Sydney.
He is an award-winning photographer and academic who works across interdisciplinary fields such as the arts, forensic science and visual criminology. Photography is, however, his primary focus across all disciplines within his scholarly work and creative practice. His current photography projects are considered within the humanist photography genre, capturing the human spirit and social condition.
Porter originally studied photography at the Sydney Institute of Technology and holds several postgraduate qualifications in the arts, science and applied science, including a PhD in Communication Arts, Master of Arts (Photography), Master of Applied Science (Photography) and Graduate Diploma in Science. He is also an Accredited Senior Imaging Scientist (ASIS) and Fellow (FRPS) of the Royal Photographic Society.
Porter’s contemporary art photography work has been exhibited domestically and internationally in several art museums, galleries and photography festivals. His work is in private and public collections and has been selected as a finalist for several prestigious International awards, including the Head On Portrait Award, Olive Cotton Portrait Award, Stanthorpe Photography Award, Mullins Conceptual Photography Prize and the Black & White Photo Award (Paris). Porter’s first solo exhibition, ‘The Holga Experiment’, was shown at the New England Regional Art Museum in 2022.
