The Observer: The Wisdom of Age
Hutong Provence, Beijing China, 2019
“While on my travels through China, I visited the Hutong Province of Beijing, which is one of the oldest parts of the already ancient city. I was walking through a side street when this gentleman piqued my interest. Through all the hustle and bustle of Beijing, he was calmly sitting and watching every one that passed. When looking back at my photos after the trip, this image really captured that moment, two younger men quickly walking by as the older gentleman observed his surroundings.”
Framed print by Jessica Mees
Image size 60cm x 40cm printed on baryta paper mounted with a white matboard and framed in a black box frame with UltraVue Glass.

Artist - Jessica Mees
Jessica’s photographic journey began at an early age. Growing up in rural New South Wales, I was able to explore the beauty of the land, its animals, and the people around me. This fueled my passion to use photography as a medium for expressing my unique perspective of the world. To refine my craft as a photographer and artist, I studied for a Bachelor's Degree in Creative Arts and Design with a specialisation in Photography, followed by further studies in Professional Picture Framing.
My work as a photographer is dedicated to the art of storytelling, employing a diverse range of techniques and creative strategies to capture the essence of the world around me, spanning from captivating landscapes to mesmerizing portraits. From landscapes to portraits, memories to moments, my images are what I see in my life and I use these to connect with my viewers
